Kun Labokator Rules to Apply in Neak Leng Kun Event

PHNOM PENH – The Neak Leng Kun event will use kun lbokator’s rules and regulations, says Our Dara, deputy secretary-general of the Cambodia Kun Lbokator Federation.



Neak Leng Kun competitions will be held at the Olympic Stadium on Dec.16 from 6.30pm.



Dara said the event is the biggest of its kind as many fighters from different countries will take part.



“This is the biggest event. We’ve invited the fighters from lbokator federations from Philippines, Indonesia, Vietnam, Lao to select the best of the best fighters to come to Cambodia to fight against ours,” he said.



Seven Cambodian fighters will face off against foreign opponents. Chan Rothana, a Cambodian boxer who took part in ONE Championship and Mixed Material Arts (MMA), also features in the event.



Dara said Rothana has helped kun lbokator to become known internationally.



“He won the Kun Lbokator Championship in 2016,” he said.



Neak Leng Kun organizer Soy Phannich said the event is a first for Cambodia for an international and professional level competition.



“This is a professional event of kun lbokator where the rules of the game are of Cambodian tradition,” said Phannich.



Kun labokator join UNESCO list on Nov. 29, 2022 at the 17th session of the Intergovernmental Committee for the Safeguarding of the Intangible Cultural Heritage in Rabat, Morocco.



Neak Leng Kun is aimed at pushing kun lbokator on the international stage.
