PHNOM PENH – The rescue team is continuing its search for a military helicopter that went missing during a training session, the Ministry of Defense said on July 14.
In a statement on its Facebook page, the ministry said that the rescue team had spent the whole day of July 13 searching for the helicopter with which contact had been lost the previous day during training in the Cardamon Mountains that span Pursat and Koh Kong provinces.
“The rescue team has not located the helicopter yet,” the ministry said in its statement, adding that the search was continuing on July 14.
This is the second incident involving a military helicopter in a decade. In 2014, a Z-9 helicopter crashed in the southern part of Phnom Penh, killing four people who were on board.
In a statement released on the afternoon of July 14, the ministry said that 2 people were on board, a captain and a pilot.
The ministry also expressed appreciation to those who wished to take part in the rescue.
