PHNOM PENH – Felix Dalmas has been sacked as head coach of Cambodia’s national football team following poor results and has been replaced by Japanese Koji Kyotoku.

The Football Federation of Cambodia (FFC) said on September 13 that its executive committee had decided to terminate Dalmas’s contract.

In a separate announcement, FFC said Koji Kyotoku will be interim head coach. He is currently in charge of the under-19s.

Dalmas has been in charge of the national and under-22 teams since April 2023 after the exit of Keisuke Honda who led the teams between 2018-2023. Dalmas’s contract was expected to last until 2026.

He worked under Honda as assistant coach between 2018 and 2022. In 2022, the Argentinian received a master’s degree in sport management.

The Kouprey have failed to advance to the next round of the 2026 FIFA World Cup and 2027 AFC Asian Cup, having lost to lower-ranked Pakistan and Sri Lanka respectively in play-offs.
