PHNOM PENH — Cambodian artists performed on Feb. 7 in Singapore during the annual Chingay Parade, which was attended by thousands of people including Singapore’s Prime Minister Lawrence Wong and Cambodia’s Deputy Prime Minister Hun Many.
During their performance entitled “Life,” the Cambodian dancers combined traditional and contemporary dance as they depicted the importance of rice farming and production in the country to the cheers and applauses of the spectators come to watch the parade.
In a post on his Facebook page on Feb. 8, Many said that the performance by the Cambodian artists had been not only an opportunity to showcase during the parade the vibrant diversity of Khmer culture, but also an opportunity to forge strong ties with friendly countries that had joined in to share their culture on this international platform.

Many added that the Cambodian artists had reflected the pride of Cambodian people at the event. All involved—the artists and those accompanying them—had carefully prepared to take Cambodia to the world, he said.
First held in 1973, the parade took place this year on Feb. 7 and 8, organized by the Singapore’s People’s Association. This year was Cambodia’s fourth participation in the parade. The Union of Youth Federation of Cambodia, of which Many is president, led Cambodia’s party to the parade.
Held on the theme of “Joy,” this year’s event also included participants from Indonesia, Kazakhstan, Malaysia, Mexico, the Republic of Korea, and Vietnam.
