Upgrade is expected to help boost the basketball training program

PHNOM PENH--The Cambodia National Basketball Team has received a boost following the upgrade of the playing surface at the indoor gym of the Moradok Techo National Stadium.

This was made possible following the approval of the President of the Cambodia SEA Games Organizing Committee (CAMSOC) Deputy Prime Minister and Defense Minister Tea Banh.

“The court floor has been upgraded which will help our training program, thanks to the quick intervention of the CAMSOC President who approved the upgrade,” Cambodia Basketball Federation Secretary General Austin Koledoye said.

Since the Outbreak of the Covid-19 Pandemic, the National Olympic Stadium has been closed to athletes’ training and all national team athletes have been moved to the new Moradok Techo Stadium, which has resulted in limited spaces for training.

“The big impact of the Covid restriction has led to facility problems thus the indoor gym being shared by several other sports,” Austin added.

Meanwhile, one of the Cambodia national basketball team players Chin Sophara has hailed the decision of the CAMSOC president to upgrade the floor of the court as he took to his Facebook page to thank Banh.

“Thanks to Samdech Pichey Sena Tea Banh for approving the floor of the Basketball Court to assist with our training Techniques, we wish the best to the Samdech and all the Leaders to succeed in their tasks,” Sophara wrote.
